Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez (born Sara Ramirez) is an Mexican American singer-songwriter and popular actress. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that left her feeling like someone who was not wanted. It was in her ninth grade that she gained confidence after receiving a rousing ovation during an audition. The experience not only increased her confidence, but it also changed the direction of her professional career. She attended the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. In 1993 she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. The most notable achievement of her career was when she played The Lady of The Lake in Spamalot's first Broadway production. She did not only get the Tony Award, but her performance was also praised by critics. She gained more recognition for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. A well-known performer, she has also recorded a song and a play. In addition, she's a campaigner and has been active in the field of LGBT rights.
